LAW OF ATTRACTION VS. SHADOW WORK
LAW OF ATTRACTION VS. SHADOW WORK
Let’s look at two major series of thought within the psychology world.
1. Law of attraction theory is simply; what you think gathers momentum over time and attracts more of the same.
When you focus your thoughts towards things that make you happy, with continued and persistent effort, momentum increases making being happier become easier and easier.
2. Shadow Work theory suggest that you have a “shadow side” to your personality that has been repressed by our modern society, and if you do not inspect and allow your “shadows” to express themselves, they will continue to lurk in your subconscious, sabotaging your happiness.
Whatever is within you NEEDS to be expressed. It is NOT about destroying your shadow, but rather the integration of it.

The law of attraction was first popularized by Jerry & Esther in the 2006 movie, “The Secret”.
The law of attraction explains WHY people are successful and others are not.
However, the principle is more than it seems, as it delves into complex situations that extend far BEYOND focusing on positive thoughts.
The law of attraction places NEW emphasis on desires & emotions… that is, it is not your mental thoughts alone, BUT the emotional CHARGE that is gives strength to your thoughts and belief systems.
It is about FEELINGS opposed to thoughts!

Shadow work was first popularized by Carl Jung.
Your shadow is the unconscious aspects of yourself that you consciously do not identify with. The shadow should ACTUALLY be viewed as positive aspects of yourself (not negative as many therapists would make you believe).
“People pleasers” for example need to identify with their anger and learn to start telling people to £$%^ off, in no uncertain terms. BUT, because they were brought up to always be respectful of others and be “good”, they find it difficult to consciously understand that saying “no” to people can be immensely organic, satisfying, and natural. INSTEAD, they take on more work than they should and end up stressed and burnt out, believing that sabotaging their mental and emotional well-being is “somehow” a “positive” thing.

Generally, your shadow exhibits “negative” tendencies. It contains your deep fears and insecurities. These fears and insecurities are then projected onto other people.
People project their own negative tendencies onto others to “deal” with their own pain. It’s a coping mechanism to avoid confronting it within themselves, which is obviously far more difficult to do. Easier to project

The good news is there is no need for favoritism.
You can use both Shadow work and the law of attraction together. They do not need to be opposing, on side ‘against’ the other.
I recommend you embrace the best of BOTH.
You will experience that applying the principles from the law of attraction will reveal shadows and that doing shadow work will increase your level of positivity and happiness.
So, it is not a matter of Law of Attraction vs Shadow work BUT rather a matter of a blend of both
