Through the art of listening, you can attune yourself to your unconscious mind and unveil insights that would otherwise remain hidden beneath the surface of our awareness. This article delves into the depths of your emotional landscape, unravelling the ways in which your emotions communicate with you and how you can foster a deeper understanding of your unconscious mind by honing your emotional intelligence.

The Language of Emotions

Emotions are complex and multi-faceted phenomena that permeate every aspect of your life. They have the ability to motivate you, guide your actions, and shape your experiences. Emotions are intricately intertwined with your thoughts and behaviours, and often arise from a place beyond your conscious control. This mysterious, intangible origin is the unconscious mind—a reservoir of memories, desires, and suppressed feelings that lay outside of your immediate awareness.

Your unconscious mind operates in the background, influencing your thoughts and behaviours in ways that you may not even be aware of. In order to better understand your unconscious, you must first recognise the language it speaks—emotions. By learning to listen to and interpret your emotions, you can gain a deeper understanding of the unconscious mind and what it is trying to communicate.

Listening to the Unconscious Mind

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to recognise, understand, and manage your own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. Developing your EI allows you to better listen to the unconscious mind's messages and interpret the language of your emotions. Here are some steps to enhance emotional intelligence and foster a stronger connection with the unconscious mind:

Self-awareness: Begin by recognising and labeling the emotions you experience. Avoid suppressing or denying your feelings, as doing so can lead to a disconnect between your conscious and unconscious thoughts.

Curiosity and exploration: Delve deeper into your emotions by asking yourself questions and seeking out patterns. Exploring the undercurrents of your emotions can reveal valuable insights into your unconscious mind.

Emotional regulation: Learn to manage and respond to your emotions in a healthy and constructive manner. The word may be a mouthful to pronounce but the act of showing it is actually rather simple and effective to put into practice.

Knowing the power and potential of showing gratitude and subsequently applying it accordingly can be the single most decisive factor in ensuring better degrees of success for yourself.

What gratitude can do for you

Let’s think about what exactly what gratitude can do for you and, by association, your success. Gratitude invokes a positive feeling in you and the people you show it to. It alters your perspective of negative feelings, thoughts, or beliefs you may have of yourself or others by alerting these feelings, thoughts and beliefs to the things you are grateful for. Gratitude raises your awareness and focus, and it can inspire you to achieve more – for yourself and the people around you.

There are numerous other benefits of gratitude. But many people still don’t – or simply refuse to – shower themselves or the people around them with gratitude. Instead, they put themselves and others down through criticism and condemnation. To see if you fall into this category, take the next few seconds to ponder the following questions:

What exactly are the obstacles that are holding you back from showing gratitude to yourself and to others?

How can you overcome these obstacles?

How can you unleash an onslaught of gratitude to yourself and to others?

The obstacles you answered with are mainly negative thoughts, emotions, and beliefs that you may possess that are probably not only hindering you from showing gratitude but are also holding back your success. However, the chief aim of this article is to show you the importance of showing gratitude and how you can go about doing it. As such, I will not go into too much detail about how to overcome these negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs. But if you would like to find out more, please refer to the resource box below.

Where gratitude begins

Now that you are clearer about the benefits of gratitude, let’s first talk about how you can start showing gratitude to yourself. To start doing this, you must first be appreciative of all your achievements – whether they’re big or small – that you have experienced so far in your life.

Ask yourself when the last time was that you actually rewarded yourself for those achievements. If you have constantly been doing so, good for you and keep it up. If not, it’s about time you start indulging or pampering yourself with a few simple or extravagant (whichever is appropriate) rewards for all your past achievements and the future ones.

Next, be appreciative of the things you have – your job, workplace, house, wealth, family, food and surroundings – whatever applies to you. I know it can be impossible to directly show gratitude to these things but don’t fret. You can just list them and write thank you notes for each of them to express your gratitude. Keep referring to this list when you’re feeling sad or depressed and you can instantly feel a surge of happiness or positive emotions.

What next?

So far, I have covered how you can show gratitude to yourself and the things around you. Now, I will touch on how you can show gratitude to the people around you. There are many ways you can express your gratitude, but I will only list the few I feel are important and simple to perform. You are, however, free to discover or think of others of your own and implement them as you see fit.

Instead of putting down, insulting, and complaining about the people around or working under you, try complementing, praising, and appreciating them for all they have done for your well-being and your achievements. By doing this, you gain their respect and trust, and they are more likely to continually assist you to achieve better.

Make a thank you list of all the people you are grateful for and constantly refer to this list to give yourself a positive feeling.

Give a simple verbal thank you, note of appreciation or even a thank you e-mail to express your gratitude to the people who have assisted you in achieving.

Shower the people you are grateful for with small or big tokens of gratitude – cards, gifts, presents or rewards to clearly show them how much you appreciate them.

Or simply provide the people around you with gifts that cannot be bought with cash, like your valuable time, a personal sacrifice or something that is of the utmost importance to you.

Gratitude – The word may be a little complex to pronounce but there is actually nothing complex about performing the act of showing gratitude. Always bear in mind that when you show gratitude to yourself, the things and the people around you will definitely hold the key to unlocking your personal growth, and ultimately your success.

Your child brings home a report card filled with low marks. Your dog just bit your neighbor, and the sink in the kitchen no longer works. You feel you’re under major stress. As a result, you find yourself tossing and turning at night, unable to get a good night’s sleep. This is truly unfortunate, because sleep can re-charge a person’s batteries, enabling him or her to better tackle the stressors that come along the road.

Stress-induced insomnia can take a variety of forms. For instance, you may have difficulty falling asleep in the first place. Or you may wake up hours earlier than you should. You may find yourself waking up several times during the middle of the night. Or you may even find that you feel tired when you wake up in the morning because you didn’t get good quality sleep.

One important point to remember is that you are not alone. Just about everyone suffers from lack of sleep at some point in life. That said, dealing with insomnia can be exhausting. You might feel run down during the day and have difficulty concentrating. You may turn to coffee in order to keep awake during the daylight hours, which can lead to a feeling of restlessness. You may even try taking a nap in the mid-morning or late afternoon, only to find that you have difficulty sleeping again at night.

While old age, depression, and substance abuse can all lead to insomnia, it might be said that the number one cause is stress. If your insomnia persists for a week, you should contact your doctor. He or she may prescribe medication to enable you to get to sleep more quickly. But you should be aware that there are other techniques you can use to deal with stress-related insomnia.

To begin with, try to determine the root cause of your stress. This might be your job, your home life, or even some of your recreational activities. Next, determine whether you are over-scheduled. By eliminating some of your commitments, you might be able to seriously reduce your stress level. Then, do some problem-solving. How can you make a stressful situation better? It could involve engaging in positive thinking, changing your attitude about the situation, or coming up with solutions to resolve the situation.

There are also some concrete steps you can take to improve your sleep. For instance, make sure that your bedroom is conducive to sleep. This means finding the most comfortable bedding available, decorating your room with soft, subtle colors, and eliminating clutter or other signs of work in progress.

In addition, condition yourself to associate your bed with sleep. This means resisting the temptation to do work in bed, or study for your classes while lying down. You should even try to avoid watching TV programs in bed. The idea here is to eliminate stimulants from your sleeping area which could prevent you from falling asleep. If you like to read in bed, make sure that you read only fun, pleasurable books, not significant tomes that could keep you up at night.

One other helpful tip is to set up a regular routine prior to going to bed. It may involve taking a bath or shower to relax you or drinking some milk right before settling down to sleep. Also, try to get up at the same time every morning so that you are following an established schedule. In addition, make sure that you do not engage in drinking beverages with caffeine or alcoholic drinks after dinner.

🙏 Insomnia is one of the most dangerous side-effects of stress. It can rob you of your energy, strength, and endurance. It can make the simplest tasks difficult to handle during the day. And it can even lead to major depression. If you find yourself having trouble getting to sleep at night, take immediate action. Don’t wait for your body to feel the stress of night after night of sleeplessness. The more proactive you are, the greater the likelihood that you’ll be able to combat insomnia, as well as the stress that goes with it. Refreshed and renewed, you’ll be able to take on the challenges that come your way once you’ve gotten enough sleep.

The foundation being the REAL YOU, the you that you know deep down you are.

Here are the three keys to real inner confidence.

1. Get to Know Your Values

Personal values are a big passion of mine and I often get carried away with myself when I talk about them. I make no apology for that though – they’re one of the most important things you can know about yourself and are vital in getting genuine inner confidence. Your values are ten thousand feet down inside you, right at th yourself, in others or in the world that’s most important to you, and could include things like beliefs, progress, family, fun, nature, achievement or freedom.

e very core of who you are; and they’re the building blocks, the foundations, and cornerstones for you. A value is something in

Why is it that some people and situations leave you feeling angry, frustrated, demotivated, or deflated? It’s because one or more of your values is being denied, suppressed, or repressed – and we experience that as a negative experience because it’s denying a fundamental piece of who you are. You know those times when you’ve felt alive, amazing, or buzzing? Those are the times when one or more of your values are being honoured, and you can get more of that by living according to them.

Your values are all yours, and no matter what happens, no one can ever take them away. You can have absolute confidence in them because they’re there all the time just waiting for you to notice and use them. When you get to know your values, you can start to make choices and align your life around them. It’s so simple and it feels amazing because all that really means is that you’re allowing who you are to live in the real world.

2. Use it or lose it

Confidence is a muscle, and like any muscle you need to exercise it so that it doesn’t shrink and waste away. The problem is that unlike your biceps or glutes, which tend to stay in the same place, your confidence “muscle” can be harder to find. How do you develop your biceps or firm up your glutes? By doing exercises that are designed to target that muscle group over a period until you see the results you were looking for.

It’s just the same with confidence. Let’s say that you’re the kind of person that doesn’t take many risks, the kind of person who goes through each day doing what needs to be done and doing it well, but not really stretching yourself. You might talk yourself out of doing something because it’s too scary or because you think to yourself ‘I’m not good enough,’ ‘that’s not who I am’ or ‘I don’t really want it anyway.’ That kind of person lives within what they know and what keeps them safe and comfortable. The fewer risks they take, the less confident they need to be and so the less confident they become.

THE HOW 👉 To work your confidence muscle, you need to be prepared to take risks – big or small. You need to be willing to stretch yourself in an unfamiliar direction, to try something new or try something in a slightly different way. You need to open yourself up to the possibilities around you and push yourself to increase what you know, what you do and who you are. The more open you are to risk, opportunity, and possibility the more confident you need to be, and so the more confidence you’ll develop.

That’s your confidence muscle – the question is, what are you going to do to exercise it?"

You’re probably aware of mindfulness and of CBT.

But what if you could simply flick a switch and completely change the way that your brain works? What if you could become smarter overnight? Wouldn’t that be ideal?

This is what we see in the film Limitless. The main character takes a single tablet and suddenly gains access to latent power of his brain. He becomes smarter, wittier, more charming, more creative – and in no time he has written a best-selling novel, made a huge amount of money on the stock market and run for political office.

This is what science would call a ‘nootropic’ and the shocking part is that they’re "real" 🤯

💊 What Are Nootropics?

The reality is nothing like the movies. But what some nootropics claim to be able to do, is make you a little more alert, boost your memory and help your motivation.

These work in a variety of ways and they take many forms. For instance, one of the most popular types is called modafinil. Modafinil is a drug used to treat narcolepsy but it has also been used by fighter pilots and top CEOs in order to help them need less sleep and work longer and harder. They work by affecting a neurochemical called orexin, which regulates our sleep wake cycle.

Others work by stimulating our fight or flight response through dopamine or adrenaline. Others appear to enhance brain plasticity to increase learning. Some simply give the brain a bit of an energy boost to help you feel less tired.

👉 So, do they work? 🤷‍♂️ The answer is simple: it depends! Some nootropics work well and really can give you a boost in focus. Others don’t really have much effect, while others might actually be bad for you and cause headaches or even addiction!

The key to finding the best ones by doing the research and consulting with a medical doctor. But suffice to say, the best ones are the natural ones with a more mild impact on the way you feel. Stick to these and you’ll reduce negative side effects – but just know that nothing can turn you into a genius overnight.

People have a range of different dreams and goals. This is one of the best things about people in fact. We’re all different and we all have different aspirations – different goals to share with one another and different things to talk about.

The unhappiest people? They’re the ones with no goals. No direction. No motivation. A goal gives you a vision, it gives you drive and it makes every day seem like a positive step to an end destination that is truly important to you.

But while goals are intrinsically rewarding, problems do arise when we don’t know how to pursue them. Having a goal that seems completely out of grasp and making no progress whatsoever is disheartening.

In this article, we’ll look at some of the things you can do to help yourself reach your goals faster. Whether you want to write an amazing book, set up a business or do anything else; these are two tips that will apply in every situation and that you might not have heard before.

Tip 1: You Have to Believe

This might sound like cheesy bumper-plate-sticker-advice, but it is very true. At the end of the day, you need to have absolute faith that the plan you have to get your book published or to become famous is actually going to work. Why? Because otherwise you risk putting in all the time and effort for nothing!

Think about it: have you ever struggled to stay motivated to get into work? No! The reason for that is because you know that going to work means getting paid. This is 100% guaranteed.

But you may have struggled to stick to a training program and part of the reason for that is that you know it might not yield results. So whatever plan you come up with, make sure you believe it!

Tip 2: You Have to Take it Slowly.

The other problem is wanting results right now and ending up burning yourself out too quickly. Want to write the next best-selling novel? The way to do that is not in one or two sittings! You need to take your time, to work steadily and to be considered in the way you approach this goal. The best option is to plan to write one or two chapters every day. Look up the word ‘Kaizen’ for more on why this works so well!
